The Soul
C. Mullins, Texas U.S.A
Given for one instant an intelligence that could comprehend all the forces by which nature is animated ... an intelligence sufficiently vast to submit these data to analysis ... it would embrace in the same formula the movements of the greatest bodies in the universe and those of the lightest atom; for it, nothing would be uncertain and the future, as the past, would be present to its eyes. Pierre-Simon de Laplace, 1814
In the heart and soul of every man there lies a space ....
If this space could be visible to the human eye it would contain the colors of all the most beautiful rainbows that man has ever seen or imagined. It would contain the fragrance, the wonderment, the serenity and natural beauty of every flower that man has ever viewed with delight. There ... also could be found ... the taste of every tear that man has ever shed; and the warmth of every smile he has ever had or has ever received.
In this space he lets his soul sing and dance, giving with reckless abandon to that which he loves.
Perhaps it is the heart of the soul that goes on and lives on and on even when the body dies. If that would be so, lucky are those who have felt the magic of pressing their cheek to a new born baby's skin. Have felt the warm tenderness and intimacy of a loving embrace under a moonlit sky that lights an entire galaxy.
In the heartbeat of this space is born all the fears, longings, desires, and dreams of individuality and purpose. It is the part of man that wants to run with the wind, fly with the eagles, swim with the dolphins, sip tea with the wise and feel at rest as night falls among the angels.
Charity, bravery, courage, empathy, kindness, honesty, morality, patience, sensitivity, endurance, creativity ... these and many more are but some of the fine gems which men have been shown to posses in the heart of their souls ... lucky are those who have been given such treasures. Blessed are those with whom they're shared.
If time is a journey and man's life were to be a timepiece ... then what might be said of his journey? Did he keep time well? The heart of the soul ticks away the seconds, hours -the moments and days of our lives.
The sparkle in the eye is no less than the sparkle of the infinite ocean when the sun shines on it at any given time of day. Or the sparkle to be seen in morning dew, fresh snow, a star, or a diamond. Mere representations which help us to bring into view the truth of the infinite ... which is always breathing below the surface. |
